From the gripping first page to its thrilling conclusion, the reader is engaged as Holt and Penny have narrow escapes, trying to evade the serial killer and his plans, while dealing with their own issues of the past. Penny and Holt dated briefly but haven’t seen one another for some time. Will they pick up where they left off? The addition of another plot line that affects their blossoming relationship adds to the twists and turns.
As expected, Eason creates an intense, edge-of-your-seat story filled with believable characters, faith elements, clean romance, tightly-written suspense, with plenty of plot twists to keep the reader guessing. Violence is present as one would expect in this storyline.
Themes of family, forgiveness, and the importance of relying on one’s faith in God to weather the storms permeate the novel. Readers will eagerly look forward to Crossfire, the second book in this series, coming in summer 2022.
