Hauck and Padgett recreate the small town of Hearts Bend first introduced in Hauck’s Wedding Collection (Wedding Dress Shop, etc.). But one does not need to read those earlier books to enjoy this one. It is a standalone novel that sets up the new series co-written by Hauck and debut authors. Hauck provides the framework (and there are cameos of her Heart Bend characters), but Padgett does an excellent job of taking the recipe and making it her own.
Sam buys the bakery where Chloe was recently hired, setting up interesting dynamics as they navigate their relationship. Sam and Chloe have a second chance at love but only if they can leave the past behind and embrace God’s healing. Faith elements, clean romance, and small-town charm combine to make this a recipe for a happily-ever-after.
